Betfair

Betfair operates in Brazil under Portaria SPA/MF nº 248, issued 7 February 2025, and is part of Flutter Entertainment, the listed group that also owns Paddy Power and FanDuel.

Its historical significance is the exchange: betting against other users rather than against the house, which was a genuinely new market structure when it launched in 2000. The exchange still distinguishes the brand, and it creates technical requirements — matching, liquidity, commission — that a conventional sportsbook does not have.

For a supplier that difference matters. A product built for fixed-odds sportsbooks does not automatically fit an exchange, and the parts of Betfair's stack that are procurable are shaped by the group's decisions rather than the Brazilian entity's.
